Armenia is an award-winning soprano, songwriter, composer, and sound engineer, born in 1993, living in Toronto. Her performance styles range from operatic, to folk, metal, jazz, and musical theatre. Armenia has a BFA in composition and has been performing around Toronto and abroad since the age of eight, immersing herself in musical theatre productions, jazz ensembles, and folk music groups. Influenced by the sounds around her, and the Western Asian music she grew up with, Armenia has always combined traditional Armenian folk and liturgical music with her passion for symphonic orchestrations, leading to her highly regarded debut symphonic-metal album, “Lopsided Moon” in 2015.
Armenia has written and recorded vocal and orchestral parts for numerous projects, ranging from film scores, to albums, live performance projects, and even a metal opera. Apart from composing for herself and others, Armenia performs various folk music in many languages, and specializes in Armenian classical and folk repertoire as a solo soprano or with notable groups, including the Horovel Armenian Folk Ensemble. Armenia’s greatest joy is musical collaboration.
